A beautiful Friday it was, in the late morning, towards the noon; the MEETING ensued and it culminated into a joyful EXPERIENCE that spanned for a brief, yet memorable period. Before the MEETING, ‘Debisi used to be rigid with the opposite gender, even though ‘being with the other’ had been a trend in her society; she is in herself contented, oblivious of the fact that something was amiss. Kcee also, was not too keen about the other gender, especially with the experience he had with the previous, however, he was willing to give it a trial. Therefore, it became a case of ‘the desired killer meeting the one that desired death’.
The EXPERIENCE, though beautiful; wasn’t devoid of woes, these woes however, became unmanageable and therefore led to the END- the END that left indelible mark and impact. The ever serene and carefree heart of Bisi became a turmoil, with peace and joy somewhat displaced, what was before the MEETING and EXPERIENCE unnoticed and unmissed became extremely obvious and missed.
With the END of the EXPERIENCE, both went back to their individual lives, with the resolve of forging ahead. ‘Debisi tried so hard to move forward, she succeeded at some points and thereafter a regression ….On and on, she soliloquized, but has it brought an end to the pain?Maybe not. And as fate will have it, in the face of this bad scenery -as if to fuel fire, some ‘shadows from the past’ showed up….you know that saying in Yoruba parlance that ‘ti iya nla ba gbeni sanle, kekeeke a gun ori e’ i.e. when an insurmountable woe betides you, other surmountable ones will become addendum.
So it was that, rather than having another EXPERIENCE with the ‘shadows from the past’, she will allow the ‘EXPERIENCE Portion’ remain void and empty until someday, maybe just someday a wonderful EXPERIENCE will surface, that she will embrace, bringing a meaningful END; yet a beginning of a worthy journey.
Nevertheless, something will be before the wonderful EXPERIENCE- TIME! Time will happen, so what will preoccupy the time from the END till the new EXPERIENCE? The TIME is a broad one- the combination of several things, a period of healing, maturity, loneliness, thoughtfulness, amendment and re-trace, but am not certain it brought lasting relief or forgetfulness.
I guess what happens during the TIME and the end result varies from one individual to another. Nonetheless the EXPERIENCE can't be eliminated, whether it has positive or negative aftermath, we just must pass through the phase.
For this article, the MEETING translates to our connection point- meeting as families probably at birth, work as colleagues, at events from mere friendly introduction, or even on transit; EXPERIENCE on the other hand connotes diverse relationships we may have with fellow humans, whether platonic, kinship/family tie or other intimate relationships, while END means the disrupt in relationship both intended and unintended; nonetheless the major focus is on intimate relationships.
The saying 'no man is an island' is indeed true, even though we might seek solitude at intervals, no one can exist alone; we all look forward to each other for a meàningful life. Numerous people out there are insane, unkept, disorganized, disoriented, and live meaninglessly; all because of the sour aftermath of ‘the EXPERIENCE’. How deep and seemingly irrecoverable the grief, pain, agony, and vacuum of disrupted relationship can be. I don’t wish you to be a victim; neither do I want you to be the proactor of a failed and unworthy EXPERIENCE.
The year has just begun, February just commenced and we will need to build, uphold and retain relationships, we will have new relationships and end some others; however in doing all the mentioned we must make sure we give our relationships the right push, attitude and effort that they require for optimum living. Enjoy the beauty of lives attached to yours..even plants and animal do. All the process of relationship demands TIME- the Meeting, Experience and even End, all exist for but a duration..a period! So make the best of it.
There is however something that is worthy of note, be wise in all your dealings, let the EXPERIENCE with God be the ultimate, remember he is the only one that will always be there for you even when people fail. Never make the mistake of giving anyone the place of God in your life, never depend on anyone the way you should depend on God because if they fail you, you may become broken beyond repair.
