NIGERIA: Undeniable!

A long time ago, my late paternal grandma defied her children's instruction, and came to Lagos unaccompanied; with luggages beyond her. On getting to her final destination, she alighted and tried to walk away, oblivious of the fact that part of her cloth had gotten stucked to the bus, the bus was just about dragging her on the floor when Iya Matthew- a neighbour of ours halted the bus with her scream. Luckily for grandma, she was rescued right on time by a good being who brought her home safely.... a good Nigerian.

Still in the euphoria of independence, I need to remind you that it's not a mistake that you were born, bred or reside in Nigeria. You definitely can't dispose a gold accoutrement or perhaps other valuables just because a part of it has got dent. So also Nigeria is undergoing a phase and can't be displaced anyhow; situations shouldn't make us write her off or join others in social vices in a bid to get even with them.

We can't deny the fact that Nigeria is fruitful and a land flowing with honey because of some few bad eggs.

Although, some Nigerians like any other country's citizens are lazy, yet we can't deny the fact that Nigerians are not just industrious but they are also highly productive and hardworking.

We also can't deny the fact that Nigerians are accountable and transparent, just because we have some cases of fraudulence around.

We actually can't deny the fact that there is a whole lot about Nigeria that makes it thick, and there is of course something uniquely unique about Nigerians that made them to be reckoned with anywhere they go. If you doubt me ask Dr Oluyinka Olutoye who detached tumour from foetus- a very rare surgical feat; he unashamedly attributed his medical success to his Nigerian training.

Even in the education sector, amongst the many others, we have Prof. Adebanwi who became the first black African Rhodes Professor earlier in the year. There are quite a host of others who are unashamedly and undeniably Nigerians wherever they go, despite our flaws; check out young Nigerian folks making waves home and abroad. Nigerians... Be the best you can
Be proud of who you are
Explore the best of the land                          before we're called up yonder.

Just a thought about who I am that can't be denied.
