ANGER BUILDS NOT, IT PULLS DOWN

Beautiful and bright Monday it is, with people walking in mass down pathway road, Aransiola was also quietly walking down to his office, which was just a stone throw from his residence; he suddenly fell down and was convulsing, foaming in his mouth profusely. Within a twinkle of an eye, the vicinity was cleared of people, leaving only ‘Siola in his predicament. Rising up, having realized his show of shame based on his ailment, ‘Siola as he is being called by friends, dusted his well tailored suit embarrassingly and walk back home to change (my heart felt sympathy for those suffering such fate, the lord heal you..Amen).

Embarrassing moment you think too? Yea, but i think it's way beyond him; but do you know that there are some extremely embarrassing acts that we perpetrate that can be controlled?

Melly is a loving and cheerful lady that everyone loves, one day she sat down quietly at KINGSCOURT office, waiting patiently for Damon, her fiancé to be through with his work so that they can have their date; which he planned. So, she had to forgo all her engagements. One hour, thirty minutes gone, Melly was still waiting when Damon’s message came in via text message

Hey love! I think you should go, I am way too busy; will make it up to you sweet, so sorry.
Love Always- Damon.

Infuriated, Melly barged into Damon’s office, so beclouded by anger, she took the paper with him, tore it into pieces and disorganized the table; throwing tantrums  at the office, almost immediately she started crying as she lamented "you didn’t even have the dignity of coming down yourself to explain yourself after standing me up…ehn?"

Damon, still in a state of disbelief, responded painfully, yet calmly; "you didn't just destroy a billion naira worth deal, you also dramatically showed whom you are to my boss, because I was skyping with him when you came in unannounced, so he had the pleasure of seeing the show",  with her hands covering her wide opened mouth, she went down slowly, crying more in regret.

Yea…. Epilepsy might be a show of shame but at least it's one that is beyond the victim's control; much more than a show of shame, disgrace, or  embarrassment is Anger! Anger that is unchecked usually end up in regret and most times in destruction of resources, even relationships.

Melly's anger I would say is justified, no lady should be kept waiting (lol), and also considering the fact that she had to let go of her activities for love; nonetheless, she rendered her previous 'Patient Act' useless with the outburst which really marred a lot afterward.

Lately, i have been having reasons to get really angry and mad ( I get that feeling, mostly when I feel cheated or am being accused wrongly, you know times when you feel you can really justify your stance, can you relate? Exactly! such moments). One day it got to its height and I wanted to respond so bad to the perpetrator and something came to my mind, "your response at a time like this can be a bomb that will explode and scatter the whole place", so I decided to  sleep over it and give response later, guess what? The following day, I’d gotten better so instead of justifying or defending me, I apologized and the situation was resolved. So the calmness at that time solved the issue.
However, more than the temporary calmness that one should display at the moment of anger, I think there should be more! I feel much more than calming down in order not to give a bad response, one should:

  • Calm down for his/her inner peace,

  • Calm down because you want to/ you’ve forgiven the offender really,

  • Calm down because you don’t want to hold grudges,

  • Calm down because you know you are mentally sane and shouldn’t be exhibiting madness,

  • Calm down because you don’t wanna give the devil a foothold,

  • Calm down because patience in time of anger is victory over the devil,

  • Calm down because you know that anger doesn’t build, rather it pulls down,

  • Calm down… be not angry because it’s a command "be not hasty in thy spirit to get angry: for anger rested in the bosom of fool (Ecclesiastes 7:9)."

Don’t let that anger steal your joy, it is a phase that will pass, ask for grace to overcome today, the power of resurrection is still very much alive to engrace you in abundance. You’re not alone in this, have been in this shoe and i am still working on myself; with God on our side, victory is ours.

Let nothing  deprive you of your happiness, remember ANGER is Attitude Negating Glory Exhibition/Exposure in the Real being.
