2017 TOP LESSONS

I bless the giver of life for this new year 2018, grateful to God Almighty I am for the year 2017; a lot of life situations had built, moulded and shaped me. Undeniably, the previous year had made a lot of us better, stronger, more knowledgeable and of course more matured. It is on this note I present to you the major lessons that evolved from my experiences in the past year. I hope you learn from my TOP TEN LESSONS.

YOU NEED NO REASON TO PRAISE
I have always believed that one need be spurred or propelled by a certain (positive) action for one to acknowledge God’s faithfulness, until 2017 taught me that I need not search for a concrete and justifiable reason before I can extol God.  For whom He is alone, worship and adore Him.
Theme Song: Onise Iyanu by Nathaniel Bassey

PRAISE EVEN IN ODDS
So difficult this might be, but I bet you it pays to praise God for our woes. Yes! Even when you feel God isn’t fair enough to you, praise Him still. Understand He is unquestionable in His deeds and He knows best.
Theme Song: Praise Is What I Do – William Murphy

GIVE YOURSELF OUT PROPORTIONATELY
Do not give so much of yourself to people who will not do same for you – Anonymous. Give yourself out in the right measure; in the end some people you try to give your best to, who you have and wouldn’t still mind going the extra mile for might not really appreciate or value your concern for them.
Theme Song: Ordinary People – Cobhams Asuquo

CHECK, RECHECK YOUR JOURNEY
I have learnt the importance of understanding the journey ahead before embarking on it at all. Once you commence a journey, please ensure you recheck to be sure you are on the right track/route. Is it a business plan or human relationship? Check and recheck to be sure that is what to delve in at that time.
Theme Song: Pray For me – Dare Ft Soweto Choir

GET THE APPROPRIATE RESOURCES FOR THE JOURNEY
Get the human and material aid that you need for success in your undertakings. Don’t journey alone, no man is an island; talk to people when you need to but ensure you are talking to the right person(s)…make friends, but be sure they are friends that will add and not sap you of value. Every individual you come in contact with has a role to play – leave room for that role.
Theme Song: I Need You To Survive – Hezekiah Walker

PREPARE FOR DISSAPOINTMENTS
You heard me right! I had a barrel full of disappointments this past year and I had no absorber whatsoever to take them in. I can assure you that whatever you are prepared for will amaze or shock you less. This is not to say that we shouldn’t trust people, but expecting disappointment from the least person you can think of…at work, church, or even family; wherever and from whoever no matter the affiliation allows you get through situation easily. So, envisage disappointment(s).
Theme Song: Not Enough –Dolly Parton, Queen Latifah

NOT ALL TEARS TRANSLATE TO WEAKNESS
Crying may not be strength, but it also doesn’t necessarily translate to weakness. It’s only a pointer to the fact that you are undergoing a situation beyond you, which you aren’t capable of handling alone. Sometimes, it is good to cry out your heart to fellow human; however, I will suggest you cry out to your maker every of your teary unspoken words instead of mere mortals…He hears and will bring you succor and solace soon.
Theme Song: I Will Sing -Don Moen

TAKING THE LEAD IN YOUR JOURNEY CAN BE DANGEROUS
True, it is good for you to be on top of your game; be in control of your affairs but it isn’t sensible for you to leave God who has got your ‘Life Manual’ outa the game. Side-tracking God when we make little headway will only bring complications and confusion into one’s life.
Theme Song: All The Way – Carlton Pearson

LOVE- DEADLY, YET BEAUTIFUL
Kill me, and I will keep loving as long as I rise again (Lol). Mehnnn! Ama love freak.  Love can cause you scar and it can also wipe the scar. Forget being on the other side of love, do not love unreservedly; someday, somehow you will enjoy the sweetness and beauty of love as against whatever sour experience you might have had. Love has asphyxiated me, yet it will resuscitate me, I sure can’t give up on love. Love wholly...it pays.
Theme Song: Falling – Alicia Keys

FAMILY IS A GREAT ASSET
Family is the cutest, I can say that a million times. Chai! Life can be so hazardous, but when you have a loving, supportive, kind, prayerful and helpful family; you are eased of life worries already. No one is family, except they are truly family.
Theme Song: From Here To The Moon – Dolly Parton and Joyful Noise crew

I hope you’ve been able to glean a little from my lessons; If you feel like sharing your 2017 life lessons for others to learn as well, please forward a compiled note (as above) to debbydokson@gmail.com. Your feedbacks gladdens our heart at all times, don’t relent.
